TRANSVAGINAL MESH

Urogynaecological meshes (known as ‘transvaginal meshes’ or ‘TVM’) are used to treat women suffering from medical conditions, such as pelvic organ prolapse, which are particularly common after childbirth. The aim of the mesh is to give support to weakened organs and to repair damaged tissues. Fitting it requires a small surgical procedure.

However, the fitting of the mesh has, for many women, been known to cause severe complications and had life changing consequences.

In several cases, the mesh has cut through vaginal walls or external tissues, causing chronic pain and requiring women to have complicated surgery.

Mesh manufacturers did not properly research, design or test their products and women have been harmed as a result; PGMBM is looking to make sure that women who have suffered pain and financial loss at the hands of pharmaceutical companies are compensated.
